{finding joy in the journey}

Tonight called for a study night at Starbucks. An iPod, history and biology book, and a black and white hot chocolate completed my evening. As I read about the Roman Republic and studied the anatomy of humans and animals, I couldn't help but kind of enjoy this homework. Normally studying the anatomy of a pig would not be the kind of homework I would necessarily love, but I realized that these are some of the last assignments and homework nights I have of my sophomore year. Sophomore year? Seriously, I think basic skills was just the other day. I still remember the dress I wore on my first day of school.  That could not possibly have been 10 years ago. Or 1st grade being 9 years ago for that matter. 1st grade is a year I will never forget. That year my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I remember on a day when she had surgery, I started crying during penmanship, but my teachers were so comforting and helped me through it. 2nd grade was a better year though. My mom was my teacher and that was a blast. 3rd grade- well I just remember getting a lot of green slips that year for talking in class. ha. 4th grade, hmm, the thing I remember most about that year was when Jeremiah and the girls, who were in 8th grade at the time came in and did a Latin play. Weird memory, but I don't think someone could ever forget a play that Ash and Kayla were in. They are just such great actors. Moving on. 5th grade I remember outdoor-ed. Man that was fun. Mud flats, night commandos, campfires- who could ever forget?! In 6th grade my sister started courting. That was probably the highlight of my whole entire year! That sums up my elementary yeas. Entering secondary was a jump- as it probably is for any student. During 7th grade my sister got married. My class also went to Mt. St. Helens that year with Mr. Tyler. I don't think I will ever forget that trip. During my 8th grade year I became an aunt to the most adorable boy in the whole wide world. 9th grade I became an aunt to the cutest niece. That brings us back to 10th grade. I love the memories I have made in my past 10 years and cannot wait to make more in the next 2 years. Next year I go to Italy. Then the year after that its my senior year. Holy Cow! I definitely want to make the most of these last 3 weeks of my Sophomore year. I don't want to just let the last 2 years of high school fly by, but I want to cherish them. I am a very nostalgic person and the memories I have made and will continue to make are priceless to me. I wouldn't just want to let them pass by.

So even if it is reading about Rome, I want to enjoy it. Just 21 nights of studying and this year will be at a close. I want to make the most of each and every one.

Sarah, LOVE this post! You are a girl after my own heart - cherishing and treasuring every moment! I love that you love school and remember all those things, and want to make the most of every day.
And that is hilarious you remember us doing a Latin play, you are so sweet! :)
